The Somerset Conservation District continues to work closely with conservation organizations, resource management agencies, farm organizations, sportsmen's groups, and the general public to promote erosion and sediment pollution control practices, conservation planning, water-quality improvement, land use planning, and environmental education. The Conservation District office serves as a single point of contact for citizens in need of assistance with environmental concerns.

Aquatic life returns to Oven Run for the first time in 125 years!
The primary goal of the historic abandoned mine drainage (AMD) remediation efforts, centered in the Oven Run watershed, a sub-watershed of the Stonycreek River in Somerset County, initiated in the early 1990’s was never intended to restore the aquatic life of Oven Run itself. (more)
